I Was Blown Away By What They Said

2012 by

The strangers wished me good evening at the restaurant.

I was somewhat shocked by this kind gesture, and I’ll tell you why.

Several years ago, I traveled through Europe for 3-1/2 months with one of my good friends. We spent several days in the coastal city of Nice, France to enjoy the beaches and warmth. All I ever want to look at are restaurant menus when I travel, and this was no exception. As soon as I stepped off the train, I went restaurant hunting.

On one of my evenings, I went out to a Chinese restaurant with 2 travelers from Canada. We were halfway through our meal when another table of guests got up to leave. Right before they exited the restaurant, the couple turned to us and wished us “Good evening” (“Bonsoir” in French).

No stranger had ever done that to me at a restaurant before!
My friends and I turned to each other and were touched by this simple and kind gesture.

Sometimes I feel like we are disconnected from the enjoyment of others. How often do we think about the table of diners at the other corner of the restaurant? Do we care if the person at the coffee table next to us got a good drink? I know that sometimes I’m so distracted by the people I am with that I forget to pay attention to the other eaters. This is something that I’d like to change.

Last weekend, as I exited a Thai restaurant in Seattle, I had the opportunity to wish goodnight to the people who were seated at our table after us. They laughed with me for a minute before I left. It feels just as good to give this gesture as it does to get it.

Your Assignment:

The next time you exit a cafe or restaurant, say something to one of the guests at the table by the door. This can be “Good night,” “Enjoy your meal,” or even “Bonsoir.”

This just might make their day.

If you’d like to help me spread European charm and kindness around the planet this season, please be sure to take on this task. Thanks!

Eight experts are here to help you conquer your New Year’s Resolution!

2012 by

Happy New Year!

The theme word I chose for 2012 is bliss. To me, bliss comes through my meals, the food I choose to thoroughly enjoy, travel, and good music.

There have been times in my professional career where I’ve overworked myself, gone a little bit too long without food, and ignored a tired body. I always thought that pushing myself would mean that I could get further in business. I would work harder and harder, but I was extremely unproductive, and the things I did produce didn’t go very far. Now I know that if I want to give my gift of health to the world, I must stay happy and experience bliss as often as possible. I get so much more done this way.

As a passionate professional or business owner, I can presume that you also want to enhance your productivity efforts for 2012. Your passion has taken you this far, but it’s time to ramp up your productivity so you can enjoy a balanced life, a more profitable schedule and a stress-free environment.

The formula to have a successful and ever growing business is to leverage your time in a way that allows for growth and balance. Following a productive regimen gives you control over your schedule, allows you to focus on tasks, and achieve more in less time. Isn’t it time you lived all year this way?

I am delighted to be one of the eight experts participating in The 2012 Productivity Revolution Telesummit. I accepted this challenge because I want to help you reinvent yourself into the productive, focused, and empowered person you are meant to be.

The 2012 Productivity Telesummit begins Monday, January 9 and concludes Wednesday, January 18. Each speaker will present once a day for an hour, at 1:00pm (EST) Monday- Friday (we’re off on the weekends). You can listen to all the live calls absolutely FREE. However, if you cannot make it to a live call, don’t worry. You will have an opportunity to upgrade your subscription and purchase the recordings at a very low price.

Just imagine what your life would look like if:

You started your days with purpose and determination.

You didn’t just put out fires, but accomplished milestones every day.

You achieved more in less time and then had enough time to enjoy the other things you love.

Your physical space was organized.

Your eating habits gave you energy and helped you feel great.

You no longer felt overwhelmed and tired.

You embraced your financial situation.

That is the way you are meant to live!

Think of How Many Hours You’ll Save

2011 by

In the past week, I’ve sent several clients a long list of meals that can be created in under 10 minutes. It’s important to have health-supporting meals that are quick to prepare, and can also travel with you, in case you are out of your house for most of the day. Breaks in your workday where you can eat, pamper yourself, and feel inspired are just as important as those meals.

Did you know that one of the biggest reasons why small business owners and professionals suffer and feel overworked is the lack of productivity? Having passion and dedication for what you do should not mean working countless hours only to feel like it never ends.

There is a better way! Today you can take action and embrace new resources to leave behind the feelings of overworked, anxious and tired and replace them with productive, organized, focused and free.

I am honored to introduce to you The 2012 Productivity Revolution Telesummit. Along with me, seven other experts are coming together to share with you what it takes to begin your own productivity revolution.

If in this past year you:

  • Struggled with your email management
  • Suffered with the physical organization of your office
  • Felt inundated and wanted to just walk away
  • Wished there were systems you can apply to make things run smoother
  • Nearly choked on your lunch because you were multi-tasking and trying to eat at the same time
  • Regretted gaining those pounds because you didn’t have time to make healthier food options
  • Learned something new but didn’t have the time to apply it and implement it
  • Constantly ignored your finances because it seemed overwhelming and you simply didn’t have the time….

Then this Productivity Revolution is for you! During the eight transformational 60-minute calls, you will learn what it takes to live your life productively, with focus and purpose. We want you to begin your own productivity revolution.

P.S. Can I share something personal with you? Having extra time to enjoy my life and food has been so important to me that I created a special slide in my newest MindMovie to keep me focused on it.

It says “There is always plenty of time.” The photo that comes up afterward is a picture of Paris with clocks being flung up into the sky. On this telesummit, I’d like to show you that luxury and freedom.

Create Magical Holiday Meals

2011 by

I have trust that your holiday meals are going to be MAGICAL! I trust that you are the type of person who is evolving and moving closer to experiencing joy and the best health possible. Interactions with your family members will be smooth and caring. The food will be aromatic and enjoyable. There will be plenty of options for you to eat, even if you have food sensitivities. You know how to make food choices that will speed you to your health goals. You know when to stop eating. Your potluck dish will be loved, and friends won’t even know that it’s made a little differently.

With that said, I’d like to offer you 5 new ideas to make a nourishing holiday environment and experience.

1. If you’re going to a potluck, bring 2 dishes. One can be an entrée that you love and that will satisfy all of your dietary needs. Choose something that you would be perfectly happy eating if it were the only thing you will eat that night. You never know if the host will have food that works for your needs, so bring something that you can eat and share. Then suggest some new recipes for their next dinner party. Also bring a healthy dessert, like tapioca pudding sweetened just with the coconut milk it was made in. Fruit dipped in chocolate is great, and so are baked pears with cinnamon.

2. Focus on what feels good, but isn’t a crutch. Eating a whole bag of chips or half of a pie might feel good in the moment, but not for long. What I mean is to look for other ways that you can stay positive. Look for delicious spoonfuls of something that you love to eat, and also what creates true joy in your life and in your body. If you need ideas and inspiration, visit the blog posts about the 30 Days of Wonderful  project that I am writing about during the month of December.

3. Embrace a few new foods now, and continue to love them all the way through the holiday season. Use cinnamon on top of hot rice cereal or oatmeal. Ginger has been going in to my smoothies to provide warming qualities. This way, the smoothies feel great, even on colder days. Ginger also helps to break down foods that are high in protein, like the beans and meat that many people crave in the cold months. Try more raw cauliflower, which is easy to eat and pack as a snack when you’re away from home. It has anti-cancer properties, and helps to stimulate liver function.

4. Reach out for meal inspiration from other cultures. Share what you learned when you ate a meal in one of your favorite countries, and bring home a tradition from that experience. I still stuff bell peppers with Brie cheese and grill them like I did on an organic farm in Geneva. One of the reasons I enjoy gluten-free and dairy-free crepes is because a woman from the Czech Republic made me what she called “egg pancakes” one morning several years ago.

5. Plan more parties in the months of January and February, even if you have to make up a special occasion.Seasonal depression may creep in after the build up of the holidays, especially if you eat high stress foods. Find a reason to interact with friends. Throw a soup party where you and friends come together to make 5 different batches of soup. Have a squash cooking party with a prize for the most creative squash stuffing. Have a contest and food photo shoot for the most beautiful plating of a dish made with kale.

Introducing the 30 Days of Wonderful™ Project of December 2011

2011 by

Hello ~
Welcome to my 30 Days of Wonderful™ project of December 2011.

Life is good and it’s easy to smile. I’ve always been a very happy person, and I rarely ever get down in the wet Washington state winters. Depression is not part of who I am. I come home beaming from the inspiration o music after a walk with my iPod, and it’s easy to laugh and smile. I may surprise you though, because as I write this first post, you get to glimpse a challenge that I felt not long ago.

There are always ups and downs in life, and if you are an entrepreneur, I’m sure you have felt that the ups and downs in personal growth are magnified by being in business. The intensity of our internal growth can’t be dulled by a cubicle in an office. Our struggles don’t always go away when we come home from work, because we never completely come home. I don’t, because my nutrition work is one of my passions, and it is part of me.

For a couple of months in the summertime of 2011, I felt like I didn’t have the support that I needed to be prosperous in business and my personal life, and I began spiraling into fear. It was easy for me to get angry at people, and to get angry at myself. In these months, I spent hours searching the internet and reading books for answers. While I was cozy in my bed, I resumed watching YouTube videos and listening to recordings of Abraham Hicks.

I learned many profound things in my search, and there was a particular line from Abraham Hicks that stood out and completely captivated me:

“Thirty days of feeling wonderful is all you need to manifest the biggest of dreams you’ve ever had.”

After hearing this, I played the line over and over. Inside I was screaming, “Oh my God! I can have WHATEVER I want!?! It’s that close to me!? It already exists! I just need to feel good and it will show up!”

I finally understood that everything we want is already available. This had been a difficult idea for me to agree with for a long time, but I finally saw truth in it. My biggest dreams exist in a different vibration, and all I needed to do is get myself into a place of happiness which will then pull my dreams into my reality. It was that very day that I made the commitment to do whatever I needed to remain happy.

I’ve got some big dreams. I want to spend lots of time in Europe, I want to live in France, Germany or Switzerland. I also want a thriving company, a refrigerator full of organic food, and clients who fly in to share meals at my favorite restaurants around the world. As it turns out, even when I don’t feel like I have enough of these things, I actually already HAVE them, and they simply exist at a different vibration.

I’ve always used myself as an experiment, whether it is with a style of diet (I don’t mean restrictive weight loss diet), a new food, supplement, or personal growth project. Those who read my nutrition newsletters know that I like to step out of my ordinary life about once a month and document my new discoveries. I’ve gone away on “5 Days of Inspiration,” and have taken weekends to eat just raw foods. Stepping into what came to be called 30 Days of Wonderful™ seemed like a fun new adventure.

In the first 30 days that I committed to, I upgraded many things in my life. I began wearing dresses to dinner, spending time with more friends, and keeping my vibration happy. I indulged in a couple almond croissants made with wheat and butter (none of which I normally eat). I also started using the tough skin I grew as an entrepreneur to let irritations go, and to laugh off situations that used to make me uncomfortable. I understand that dwelling on discomfort is not worth stalling my dreams! This is when the magic started to show up.

Within the first couple weeks of my 30 days in the summer of 2011, I received an invitation to speak about my nutrition company to an audience of 1,000 people. I booked my flight back from this conference in first class, and felt elegant and deserving in my huge seat in row 4. I also said yes to opportunities that are bringing me an additional $11,000 in income. New fun clients showed up, and I gained important support of people very close to me. This all happened a few months ago, and it has been very exciting. Now I’m ready for round 2.

I love that this new 30 days that I’m embarking on begins in a powerfully spiritual time on the earth. The autumn of 2011 has been full of shifts. We may not see a shift in our outside world, but I’m preparing for internal shifts that I know will occur.

Please follow along as I ride through another 30 Days of Wonderful™ and pull my dreams into my life. If you’d like to also commit to this project, please keep me updated on your own lovely life by commenting on facebook. This is going to be SO GOOD!
